RELATIONSHIPS
God made you a man in His image, a Trinity of three persons. To be holy like Him, you must love others well. A holy man:
- Dies to himself so he can live for others.
- Protects human dignity.
- Stands firm in the truth.

Wednesday's topic:
Self-Mastery. Specifically, how to perfect your God-given masculinity.
John Bultmann says
“No one is saved in isolation.” Yes.
“We are saved together, as a Body of Christ.” I don’t agree with this. Please be careful about this. It is not exactly correct, because each soul goes through it’s own particular Judgement.
God bless.

John, I appreciate your point. To clarify where I’m coming from, the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches we are saved corporately as one body of Christ (790-810). That said, we do not lose our individuality in the whole, as paragraph 791 teaches. My point was that we find our individual salvation by uniting ourselves to a unity which is the body of Christ. Even in our particular judgement, we are not judged in isolation. As we pray in every Mass: “Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church…” or in each Hail Mary, “pray for US sinners.”
My point was simply what Pope Benedict wrote in Spe Salvi: “Our lives are involved with one another, through innumerable interactions they are linked together. No one lives alone. No one sins alone. No one is saved alone. The lives of others continually spill over into mine: in what I think, say, do and achieve. And conversely, my life spills over into that of others: for better and for worse.”

This is sort of a late response. You all have been more attentive on the conversation. And I could be only near-sighted by my comment. Prayers, mercy, and forgiveness is the work of salvation, and this is what I have have most need of.
Indeed, Pope Benedict is writing closely to paragraph 791, where it has: From this it follows that if one member suffers anything, all the members suffer with him, and if one member is honored, all the members together rejoice.
After skimming and reading 790-810, I don’t see where it says that: “We are saved together, as a Body of Christ.” And I believe that this is a point worth attention.
William Haley says
Yes, Our Lord will judge you and me as distinct souls. But we will be judged by how we treated our neighbor. We must be merciful, if we hope to receive mercy from Christ.

Beautiful podcast. I’m probably one of those difficult people. I’m trying to focus on Mercy and Forgiveness with others who are difficult, too. I pray for them.
John says
Amen, brother. In some way we are all those people. You have our prayers as we grow in virtue.
